Lauren Schwartz, M.D

Dr. Lauren Schwartz is a board-certified gastroenterologist and Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the NYU Langone Medical Center. She is focused on providing quality, compassionate care that incorporates individual patient preferences and values.

Dr. Schwartz received her undergraduate degree from Yale University in 1997, graduating magna cum laude with a bachelors of science in biology. She then obtained her medical degree from Weill-Cornell Medical College and completed her internal medicine residency at the affiliated New York Presbyterian Hospital. Driven by an interest in the nutritional aspects of gastrointestinal disease, she completed a clinical nutrition fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. In 2009 she graduated from her gasteroenterology fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital and joined Mount Sinai's academic faculty with dual appointments in the Division of Gastroenterology and The Recanati Miller Transplant Institute. In the latter role, she served as gastroenterologist for the Intestinal Transplant Team and developed an intestinal rehabilitation program dedicated to the care of patients with severe malabsorptive conditions and motility disorders. After nine years at Mount Sinai, Dr. Schwartz joined Concorde Medical Group to start a new venture.

At Concorde Medical Group, Dr. Schwartz's practice spans the spectrum of general gastroenterology. Specialized areas of expertise include celiac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and short bowel syndrome. Additional interests include gastroesophageal reflux disease, Barrett's esophagus, peptic ulcer disease, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic constipation, and colorectal cancer screening. She is proficient in upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, capsule endoscopy, breath testing, and feeding tube (PEG/PEJ) placement.
